Terms of service
Last updated: 24 September 2026
These terms set out the agreement between you and Parenting Apart, the service operated by a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16998528), with its registered office at 124-128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Please read them before you create an account or use the service. By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms.
About the service
Parenting Apart is a shared space where parents and carers coordinate care across two homes. It includes profiles, co parent relationships, custody schedules, calendar events, expenses, messages, swap requests, handoff checklists, decisions, shared documents, weekly reflections, professional sharing and exportable records. Available features may change over time. The service is a practical coordination tool and is not professional advice.
Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign in details secure. Do not share your password.
- Keep your account details accurate and up to date, including your contact and notification preferences.
- One account belongs to one person. Do not create an account on behalf of, or allow it to be used by, someone else.
Families we support
The service supports parents and carers who coordinate care for children across two homes. When you invite someone to your workspace, you confirm that they are a parent, carer or guardian of the children involved and that you intend to coordinate care with them. Each adult in a workspace can see its shared content. If your co parent does not yet have the app, some messages may be delivered by SMS or email using the contact details you provide.
Text messages
When a parent or carer uses Parenting Apart to message a co parent who does not have the app, those messages are sent by SMS from a number assigned to that parent's account. Texts include messages written by that parent and notifications about shared expenses, schedule changes and travel approvals.
Message frequency varies with how often the two adults communicate. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any Parenting Apart number to stop receiving texts from it. Reply START to receive texts again. Reply HELP for help, or email support@parentingapart.app.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your content
You keep the rights to the content you enter. You give Parenting Apart a limited licence to store, process and display that content so the service can work, including sharing it with your co parent and with professionals you invite. You confirm that the content you provide is accurate, that you have the right to share it, and that it belongs in a shared family record.
Acceptable use
When you use the service you agree not to:
- Use it for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could harm other families.
- Harass, threaten or abuse another person, or encourage others to do so.
- Try to access another person's account, workspace or data.
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory or infringes someone else's rights.
- Interfere with the service, attempt to break its security, or use automated scraping tools against it.
Some of those behaviours are only identified after the fact, but we may suspend or close an account that breaches them.
Not professional advice
Parenting Apart is not legal, medical, therapeutic, safeguarding or emergency advice. It does not replace a solicitor, therapist, doctor or other qualified professional, and it does not guarantee any particular outcome, including in court or other proceedings. Always seek professional advice for your situation. In an emergency, contact the relevant emergency service directly.
Fees and subscriptions
Parenting Apart is free to begin, and no payment card is required to start. Any paid subscription is billed through your app store account on Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing, billing dates and refunds are handled by the app store, and its terms apply. We do not collect your payment card details.
Privacy and data
Our privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and the rights you have. By using the service you also agree to the privacy policy.
Availability
We work to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may suspend or change a feature, or the service, for maintenance, security or operational reasons, and we will give as much notice as is practical.
Our responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, Parenting Apart is not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of a breach of these terms, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
Ending the agreement
You can close your account at any time from within the app. When an account is closed, the person's access ends and we remove their personal data. Shared family records such as messages, schedules and expenses are retained so that the co parent's workspace and the family record stay intact, as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, with notice where practical.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or the law. We will not apply a significant change without reasonable notice, and where required we will ask for your consent. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised terms. The current version is always available on this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
